St. Thomas Mar Thoma Church, Kumta is located at the heart of Kumta town, North Karnataka. the church was established in the year 1956. The church was consecrated by the then missionary bishop Dr. Alexander Mar Theophilus (Alexander Mar Thoma Valiya Metropolitan). The Mar Thoma Mission in Kumta started its missionary activities in the year 1930. From that year the faith community was worshipping in a small room in the mission house. The first evangelist was Evg. M. C. Varghese and the first vicar was Rev. P. J. Thomas. Now the church has 72 families in and around Kumta. Rev. Ajith Eapen Thomas is serving as the missionary and vicar.
